Marimba and Xylophone

Before you watch any videos, take a moment to get set up and ready to play. Create the most comfortable set up you can with your instrument and take a moment to check it’s working ok by playing a few notes that you know.

Chords and melody A and B

Here is Seyhogue playing the chords of the A and B sections on Marimba. You can play on xylophone or any tuned percussion.  Seyhogue has broken the parts down into levels to help you learn in steps. Try tapping out the rhythm to the part before playing it.

Seyhogue then moves on the melody part at 2 mins 38 seconds.  Try singing or humming the tune before playing it.

Task One:

Practice your individual part, always count yourself in, start slowly and focus your attention on where you make any errors.

Task Two:

Practice moving from Section A to Section B and alternating between them.

Task Three:

Practice playing your part with someone else on the same part. You can either alternate between Sections A and B, as the song does – or you can take it in turns to ‘call’ when to change between sections.

Task Four:

Practice playing your part with someone on a different part.
