Backing Tracks

Crossfade incorporates electronic sounds into the orchestra, and so the synth part is a really important part of the piece.

There are a few options for backing tracks in this piece:

  • Modulo backing tracks at 3 different speeds - these are tracks that include all of the parts, as well as the ambient synth parts to play along to.

  • A Logic file containing ambient clips that can be played alongside the piece, without hearing all of the instrumental parts

  • Ambient backing tracks for live performance without instrumental parts and without the use of Logic.

Here is a guide to talk you through these different tracks and how to use them: Guide to Crossfade Backing Tracks

Listen to a performance!

Take a listen to the National Orchestra for All perform Crossfade in 2017. This is a much longer arrangement, so you won’t be able to follow along with your part, but why not listen out to see if you can recognise any of the themes from the music you are playing in school?
